Dự án bến cảng quốc tế Sơn Dương có tổng vốn đầu tư dự kiến khoảng 8.866 tỷ đồng.
Dự án thực hiện tại phường Vũng Áng, có quy mô diện tích sử dụng khoảng 123,5 ha. Trong đó, diện tích khu đất xây dựng bến cảng khoảng 36,53 ha, diện tích khu vực biển khoảng 81,36 ha, diện tích đường giao thông kết nối khoảng 5,62 ha.
Quy mô đầu tư xây dựng 3 cầu cảng, tổng chiều dài 1.050m, tiếp nhận tàu tổng hợp, container trọng tải đến 100.000 tấn; hệ thống kho bãi, hạ tầng phục vụ cảng, khu nước đậu tàu, khu nước kết nối với luồng, vũng quay tàu. Công suất thiết kế khoảng 9,04 - 11,3 triệu tấn/năm.
Sản phẩm, dịch vụ cung cấp là phục vụ nhu cầu bốc xếp, vận chuyển, lưu giữ hàng hóa tổng hợp, container tại địa bàn Hà Tĩnh và khu vực.
Thời hạn hoạt động của dự án là 70 năm, kể từ ngày nhà đầu tư có quyết định giao đất, cho thuê đất.
Mục tiêu dự án là từng bước xây dựng, hoàn thiện khu bến cảng Sơn Dương theo quy hoạch được duyệt; đầu tư xây dựng bến cảng tổng hợp, container phục vụ cho các hoạt động kinh tế, các khu công nghiệp trên địa bàn tỉnh và vùng lân cận (bao gồm nước CHDCND Lào);
Đáp ứng nhu cầu khai thác, vận chuyển hàng hóa trong khu vực; khai thác tối đa lợi thế điều kiện tự nhiên, vị trí địa lý, các dự án hạ tầng giao thông đang đầu tư trong khu vực để phát triển, thúc đẩy kinh tế - xã hội của tỉnh Hà Tĩnh nói riêng, khu vực miền Trung nói chung.
Theo quyết định nói trên, dự kiến dự án hoàn thành toàn bộ và đưa dự án vào vận hành khai thác từ quý 2/2028.
UBND tỉnh Hà Tĩnh giao Sở Tài chính hướng dẫn, đôn đốc nhà đầu tư thực hiện hồ sơ, thủ tục đảm bảo triển khai dự án; thường xuyên theo dõi, kiểm tra, kịp thời tháo gỡ khó khăn, vướng mắc phát sinh trong quá trình thực hiện.
Đồng thời thời thực hiện đầy đủ chức năng quản lý Nhà nước đối với dự án theo thẩm quyền và quy định của pháp luật.
Các sở, ban, ngành liên quan theo chức năng, nhiệm vụ hướng dẫn nhà đầu tư hoàn thiện các hồ sơ, thủ tục triển khai dự án theo đúng quy định.
UBND phường Vũng Áng triển khai, thực hiện công tác bồi thường, hỗ trợ, tái định cư, giải phóng mặt bằng dự án theo đúng quy định.
Vingroup hiện là một trong những doanh nghiệp triển khai nhiều dự án lớn trên địa bàn tỉnh Hà Tĩnh.
Mới đây, Tập đoàn Vingroup đã khởi công dự án đầu tư xây dựng và kinh doanh kết cấu hạ tầng khu công nghiệp Vinhomes Vũng Áng (thuộc Khu kinh tế Vũng Áng, phường Vũng Áng). Dự án được định hướng phát triển các ngành công nghiệp nặng như sản xuất lắp ráp ôtô, linh phụ kiện phụ tùng ôtô và các kho logistics.
